Context matters here. Trump was talking about gas prices and the Iran war. He first said higher gas prices were a small price to pay for keeping America safe. He then explained the danger he believed a nuclear-armed Iran could pose, using Los Angeles and San Diego as examples of cities Iran could potentially threaten. Then he went right back to gas, saying the war was almost over and prices would come down. Reading the city examples as Trump wanting Iran to destroy American cities reverses the point he was making. You can disagree with his argument or his policy, but we should respond to the argument he actually made—not a few words separated from their surrounding sentences.

You know,The part that irks me is the fact that he gave Israel the iron dome that stops missiles from landing. But, he did not say, oh we better be sure California has the iron dome. Instead he says let them take out Los Angeles and San Diego.
