every job ive ever had ive been the highest performer and his words are exactly on point. I thought amazon was bad for this for but my current job is the worst. its hard to get out of the mindset to not go above and beyond bc thats who I am. but speaking up is always something you should never do. the energy towards you shifts, the demeanor or leadership becomes ignorant, and the situations you spoke about become more favorable.

My boss wrote in my appraisal that I’m excellent at my job but I need to work on making friends with my coworkers. I explained that I don’t get paid to make friends and that is not a requirement of my job. I’m there to do a job and collect a paycheck.

That’s me, everytime and eventually it cost me my job. My family ask me why don’t I just shut up and not say anything and play the game. Sometimes I wish I would but I won’t sacrifice my core values and what builds my character for toxicity. I find myself in this position because I was tasked to figure it out when there’s a bottleneck but I am finding a trend that management doesn’t want the truth, they want you to bandaid the problem and make it work without telling them what’s broken. I am tired of toxic work environments and now it’s biting because these toxic people have bad mouthed me to potential employers when they call to check work history and I am having a hard time finding work.

Amen! I’m the difficult one. Don’t care because if you are in my way to get the job done correctly then you will get out worked or ran over!! Not coasting or throwing out issues with zero solutions.
