Veryda. Can I say something? While I was doing pull ups at my park. A retired secret service special operations veteran was playing with his grand child. During this time I was in a dark place. I was asking myself what I was doing it all for and if any of “this” meant “something to me”. I watched people get shot left and right. All around me. At one point. I wrestled the devil himself face to face. Than covered in adrenaline induced sweat filled with spite and hate. Studying my blood from the inside out. I sat down and watched a Grandpa play with his grand child. Using the jungle gym as a jungle gym. While I was using it to prepare for war. I stopped everything I was doing. I looked that man in the eyes and he looked me dead in my soul and smiled back. Like he knew, i was inside if a storm that I was pulling myself out of. For 30 minutes, I watched him play with his grandchild. When he left. The jungle gym and I just reflected on each other. I reminisced about the rank and class of his hat. Almost as if I was looking at myself. The only thing, I could hear screaming inside of my heart was: “I would kill for this. I would risk bodily harm and death to protect this.” I didn’t know we men could become slaves to our heart. I hope you understand what I’m saying. Every warrior needs a strong woman. Because a weak woman will never last long enough to see him come home. Don’t break. Cry and scream. Just don’t break. I will follow my heart. Even if it leads me head first back into war. I’m not leaving. I’m just making a decision and going.
