@armorsim.sandbox: #warthunder #armor@Armor Sandbox Game A chambered armor‑piercing projectile is a type of large‑caliber concrete‑piercing and armor‑piercing projectile with impact action, designed to engage protected targets (such as armored ships, combat vehicles, and fortifications). The ancestor of chambered projectiles can be considered the bombs used in the navy since the 17th century, which were round cast‑iron cannonballs with a cavity — a chamber — filled with an explosive based on black powder. With the advent of iron armour in the 19th century, guns evolved, and a new type emerged — the so‑called bomb guns. With the introduction of rifled guns, projectiles became more elongated, with leading bands, which made it possible to significantly increase the range and power of the projectile[1]. In addition to armor‑piercing projectiles, hollow‑charge projectiles also include high‑explosive, smoke, chemical, and tracer projectiles[2].
