the only thing w the hydration station is i can imagine one kid putting their bottle down carelessly and then every water bottle on the desk gets knocked over like dominos 😭 especially for kids who’s numbers are in the back 😭

The desk pet is a must!! The kids go crazy over it and so do i lol.....The only ones I wouldnt recommend are the water station and the signals. There are to many signals for the kids to remember and that water station will become a headache the first week lol.....you think the bottles falling on the desks are bad, wait til all those bottles tumble down cuz 1 kid grabbed theirs from the back😂😂😂 Instead what I saw a fellow teacher do was buy one of those cheap shoe holders, cut them so you have individual pouches. Then tie wrap those pouches to the metal bar of the desk. You can even make a whole art lesson with it and let the kids decorate their pouches. Like a first week of school activity or something!😁😁 Good luck on your teaching journey!!

I don’t use the hand signals in my class, but another teacher does, so sometimes they just make hand signals at me and I’m like huh why are you signing at me

me and some kid had a “desk pet” in elementary it was an eraser we drew a face on and put in our desk they made a bed for it and we would exchange it every day to “take care of” until there dog ate it

Hydration station is a bad idea!! As a classroom aide we tried this last year and every 4 seconds “can I get a drink?” Better to keep it on the desk or floor next to desk

I’ve seen teachers poke two holes in a plastic cup from dollar tree, put a zip tie through the holes & secure it around the leg of the desk. For the water bottles

Instead of some of those hand signals look up and use the actual sign language signs! I switched to using the actual sign language sign this year for my signals and it feels much more intentional

As a para, the signs with the hands get me confused everytime when I push in and out of different classrooms. Im out there going to help the student only to find out they just want a sip of water. They got me hustling

Your not thinking of your kids with anxiety. I would thirst all day to avoid getting up to drink my water bottle. What was the point in packing a water bottle if I have to get up and basically “go to the water fountain” every single time that’s so annoying
