@funkytown.news_tv817: Two former detention officers were arrested last month after they were accused of using force against an inmate in custody at the Tarrant County Jail, the Sheriff’s Office said. Anthony Avalos, 34, and Osiris Longo, 38, were arrested on Sept. 3 on suspicion of official oppression and assault causing bodily injury, according to Tarrant County court records. The alleged incident happened in July, according to the records. The Sheriff’s Office initiated an investigation, a spokesperson for the office said in a statement. Longo resigned before the investigation concluded and, upon completion of the investigation, Avalos was terminated, the Sheriff’s Office said. Defense attorneys for Longo and Avalos are not yet listed in court records. They were both booked and released on bond. The investigation is ongoing and further details regarding the allegations were not released. The District Attorney’s Office has not yet filed charges in the case. “The actions of these detention officers is completely contrary to the values and professional standards expected of every employee of the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office,” Sheriff Bill Waybourn said in a statement. “We have a duty to ensure the safety, security, and constitutional rights of every person entrusted to our care. Any employee who violates that duty will be held accountable.”
