I had this exact thought today. It feels like there’s always something I didn’t notice or didn’t know and I’m just thanking god at the end of each shift that it wasn’t an issue

As a nurse of five years, let me tell u, it’s impossible as a new nurse. It’s like walking. U have to learn to crawl first. You’ll get there! Itl become second nature in no time

You can’t, you’re still learning how to think critically and stay afloat and that’s okay! The expectation (should be) that you know what normal looks like, so that you can recognize when something is wrong. Know your limits, ask all the questions, and identify nurses you trust and can rely on for help without judgment. Keep a printed copy of your facility’s critical lab values on your clipboard to reference if needed. And ask your providers to explain a diagnosis whenever you encounter something new (especially if you work at a teaching hospital, they love that stuff).

Honestly, you can’t. I’ve been a nurse almost 4 years now. You’ll be able to remember most things, because eventually you’ll just learn what’s important to know off the top of your head and what’s okay to just write down. You’ll know the signs to look for in a pt who is decompensating because you will have seen it plenty of times before. It’s all about repetition.

The same way every other nurse did it before you. Being a new grad is scary. You'll make it, if you want it.

over time you’ll subconsciously build on adding those details to your practice. it makes your shift go by so much smoother once you get the hang of it. it takes time!!! as long as you keep the patient safe and get through the day you’re doing great. you have to be comfortable with learning your entire nursing career. i handle stuff sometimes and Im like wow that went so much smoother than prior experiences and it reminds me to be proud of how far I’ve come!!

Girl. Community nursing. It do be hood sometimes, but one patient at a time, mostly stable, at your own pace. Just a calmer place to learn

I am a new grad. I’ve been on the floor for six weeks still in my orientation phase you can’t but I’m gonna tell you what you can do. You can take everything one thing at a time one pass at a time write stuff down come up with your own organization sheet that’s gonna help you my facility where I work they gave me a report sheet I used for like a week. I knew it didn’t help me. I created my own organization sheet throughout my shift. That helps me blank piece of paper. Use the fold method. Everybody gets a square. I don’t know how many patients you have or where you were write things down I used three different color highlighters so it takes time and we’re still learning. We’re baby nurses don’t give up the fight. Just remember it’s OK to cry and scream, but you can do this.

universal experience unfortunately 😔 but it does get easier!! you’ll find your own routine soon and things will come more naturally to you but don’t be scared to ask questions and ask for help!!!
