The og tohru was just so pure. I feel like in the remake they cutseyfied her too much. Tohru in the og is genuinely inspirational and beautiful to me

The original was so soft and under stimulating; it perfectly matched the vibe of the story and imo I just dontttttt like how newer animes are just so brightly colored and flashy

the 2001 anime is more accurate to the early fruits basket chapters while the 2019 reboot is more accurate to the later chapters

I only approve of the new style because Takaya specifically said to change it because she hated her old style. I totally understand that artist mood lmao

I feel like the original was softer. Maybe its the soundtrack. The remake gets 1000 bonus points for getting most of the original English va back though.

I watched both versions of Fruba back to back a while ago, and honestly I can definitely see why some people dislike the original. The remake has a much more complete story and fleshes out the existing characters better for sure, but the 2001 version has such a distinct charm to it that I can’t help but love it anyway. And I definitely miss the OG voices, both with the sub cast and with Ritsuko Okazaki. I think both versions have their advantages and shortcomings, and I love seeing what everyone has to say about them!!

ive been saying this for forever but the soundtrack in this one is so much better then the new series soundtrack, it feels more soft and healing but also more melancholic too so it matches some of the more sad stuff that happens

I love both, i grew up with the original 2001. I know so many people love the original. But I prefer the 2019 because it stuck with the manga in so many ways and told the story. They gave us all the characters that never showed up and did all the colors right too. They did brought back a lot of the original voice actors/actress from the original. Not to mention they even gave us the actual ending and what happened. Espcially love that they got majorities of everyone’s personalities right. They even explained a lot of things that happened. I’m glad they did a remake and it deserve it so much. There are so many animes that need a remake to be adapted. For the record for the art work, it was as close they got to the manga as much as they can and it looked so much better and cleaner. Let’s not forget that they did change things in the 2001 anime.
