I finally pulled the trigger and ordered the 8YSZ zirconia nanopowder. ⚡💨 This could be the beginning of one of the most exciting experiments I’ve brought to this channel yet. Published research has shown that specially engineered porous zirconia can interact with atmospheric humidity and generate measurable electrical potential, and now I’m going to start building and testing my own HygroCells from the ground up. My goal is to turn this into something even bigger: a monthly HygroCell subscription, where supporters receive one physical cell every month as the technology evolves. Generation 1 might be a basic 8YSZ humidity cell, followed by improved carbon mixtures, new geometries, dual-layer 8YSZ/12MgSZ designs, series-connected modules, and whatever breakthroughs we discover along the way. Instead of simply watching the research happen, subscribers could literally own each generation of the experiment and test the cells themselves. If I can standardize these at around 0.2 grams of zirconia per cell, a single 25-gram batch theoretically contains enough active material for roughly 125 experimental cells before manufacturing losses. The 100–200 mV range reported in previous zirconia research is a target I want to investigate—not something I'm promising every homemade cell will immediately achieve—but that is exactly what makes this journey exciting. We are going to build them, measure them under load, expose them to different humidity levels, improve them, and find out just how far this technology can actually be pushed.
