@borntoserve07: When did you become everybody’s transportation system… everybody's ride… and nobody's stop? You drive everybody everywhere. When's the last time you took yourself in for service? Because even the bus gets taken out of service. I had to laugh when I thought about this one, but the more I thought about it, the less funny it became. We drive everybody to appointments. We make the pharmacy run. We pick up groceries. We handle therapy, errands, emergencies—and sometimes come home and start another whole shift. For years, I treated my own body like it was supposed to stay on the road simply because somebody still needed somewhere to go. But caregiving does not make the body exempt from needing maintenance. Sometimes you need the depot too. I knew every family's schedule by heart. I couldn't tell you the last time I booked anything for me. A bus that never goes back to the depot doesn't keep running. It breaks down on the side of the road. So do we. Pull in. Refuel. You're allowed. Tonight, I'm not telling caregivers to abandon their responsibilities. I'm asking something much simpler: When does your body get to come off the road?💜 Finish this sentence in the comments: “My body needs ______ tonight.” #HealingForCaregivers #FollowMeAcrossTheBridge #CaregiverBurnout #CaregiverLife"*
