@ojairaptorcenter: Golden Eagle Patient 26-578 is making great progress! This eagle was found injured along Highway 58 near Hart Flat, where a Good Samaritan came to his rescue. Thanks to our incredible partners at Tehachapi Volunteer Wildlife Transport, the bird was safely brought to the Ojai Raptor Center in August for treatment. On arrival, Patient 26-578 was suffering from physical injuries, including internal and head trauma, as well as multiple abrasions to the feet. We’re happy to share that this Golden Eagle is doing extremely well and has reached an important stage in rehabilitation. We moved him into our specialized 233-foot flight enclosure, designed in a J shape to give large raptors like eagles the space they need to rebuild strength, endurance, and flight skills. For Patient 26-578, this next phase will also provide opportunities to practice one of the most important skills he will need to survive independently: hunting. There is still work ahead, but every successful flight brings Patient 26-578 one step closer to where he belongs, back in the wild. Thank you to the Good Samaritan who stopped to help, Tehachapi Volunteer Wildlife Transport for getting him safely to us, and everyone who supports wildlife care and rehabilitation at Ojai Raptor Center. #ojairaptorcenter #wildlifeconservation #goldeneagle #wildliferehabilitation
