Completely disagree. $500 check, 25 people, $10 tip by myself. No help. I pay 3% of my sales to others. You do the math. I paid the restaurant to work.

i dont think people realize that if servers didn’t RELY on tips, the service would be significantly worse cuz they would get paid the same if the hourly pay was higher

If restaurants paid servers a “living wage” the food prices would significantly increase so it would probably cost the customer more than just tipping the server

Where are these bad servers 👀? Mine always come to check on me, a little TOO much 😂 and refill my drinks too. It's SO SO rare for me to ever experience GENUINE poor service

It’s the opposite for me when I know my table has automatic gratuity I’m happy as hell cause I know I’m not getting screwed

Hmm as a waiter i look at it as opposite i try to give the best service i can being that i don’t want them to fight the gratuity which they still do sometimes

I dont eat out because I refuse to pay for a meal and pay a salary for employee that aren't mine. Many of them want to make in 4 hrs what most have to work 12+ hours for

Only go to Michelin star restaurants. They charge 20% and it’s the best service you’ll ever get, every time

i would rather be charged more so I just pay what it says on the menu rather than play the mental gymnastics of tipping culture

I love auto gratuity because when I go above and beyond I had a table who didn’t know we had auto gratuity which is weird bc we have 2 signs on the front of the store and menu but she gave me 5$ on 400 butter all that work for 5?

The tip conversation always has people saying to pay the servers a living wage. That is exactly what auto grat is…it was never ever going to come from the restaurants pocket.

No, I actually try harder because I want get tipped on top of gratuity. Why would I do work for 20 to 30 people and risk a $15 tip? 😩

I agree with auto grad for big parties. All services tend to have up charges when the service requires more time and focus if you have a party of 20+ thats 5-10 tables they could have had instead. Small parties are a different story, but big parties 100% deserve autograd

When I was a server we only did auto grat for parties 8 or more and it was 15-18% and I never expected them to tip more. And this was during Covid 😭

This is why I avoid places with auto gratuity. I am going to tip based on my service and I am a flat 15% always but can go up to 30%

The word tips means;
To Insure Proper Service.
Im normally a great tipper, but because of that if I do get below average Service I will give from 3 to 5.00. When I usually tip $12.00 plus. Also I always dine at the same place.

I put gratuity on every check that I'm allowed to. My bigger parties get exceptional service because I'm running up that check ✔️and I'm getting that double grat 🩶

I agree, but the reason autograt exists is because people don’t tip. So who’s fault is it.
