I tried out CBT and it just felt so oddly dismissive to the things I shared, like she was only ever addressing the surface level issue. I’m wondering what modality helps the best for individuals with emotional neglect CPTSD? I really want to start getting better but it feels very overwhelming even trying to figure out where to start & I feel stuck

I don’t really understand what “modality” means 😬

This is actually so helpful for me as a new therapist! Do you have any books you’d recommend? 🤔

Great metaphor, and I appreciate the book recommendations. I'd love to chat in the near future, if you're open to it. I'm closer to completing my core training and want to talk to someone with your type of scope about difference between the LPC training I'm completing and this type trauma work.

This is why the PD you attend matters because they’re supposed to go over those

my hot take is that cognitive psych should be required for clinical grad programs just like dev psych is ! my undergrad cognitive psych learning has been sooo so helpful clinically, and also for psychoed. people like learning how their brains work too!!!

i wish u started listing popular modalities and their underlying principles. instead of spending the whole vid talking about why we shluld learn them, why not teach em?

Mechanisms of change - this is stressed in grad programs! This is why we don’t learn how to do therapy in school but rather focus HEAVY on theory
