@darian.thao: I really thought making friends as an adult would be easier. So about a month ago, I moved down to Texas, new city, new chapter, figured I’d make friends just as easily as I always have. I’m talkative, I’m friendly, I’m cool. Should be easy, right? Turns out, not so much. I have content creator friends here, but we don’t really kick it as much as I thought we would. And at first I chalked it up to people just being busy. But here’s what I actually noticed: people WANT to be spoken to. Every time I ask someone “hey, how are you doing, what’s your name,” they end up yapping on and on about who they are and what they do. People want to tell their story, they’re just waiting for someone to ask. I used to think making friends as an adult was hard because people don’t want to make friends anymore. I don’t think that’s true. I think it’s hard because people just don’t want to make the first move.
