@courageousmindstherapist: Grief is what happens when life changes…and your heart is still trying to catch up. And no, grief isn’t just about death. You can grieve a relationship that ended. A friendship that changed. A version of yourself you no longer recognize. The childhood you deserved but didn’t get. The parent you needed someone to be. A future you thought you were going to have. Sometimes grief looks like sadness. But sometimes it looks like anger, exhaustion, numbness, irritability, isolation, or being completely fine one minute and crying in the car the next. Because grief doesn’t always mean, “I lost someone.” Sometimes grief means, “I lost something that mattered to me.” And your mind and body may need time to understand what life looks like now. Give yourself permission to grieve what mattered—even when other people don’t understand why it mattered so much. 🖤 What’s something people don’t realize we can grieve? Educational content only. This post is not therapy, does not establish a therapist-client relationship, and is not a substitute for individualized mental health care.
