@coltenbarnaby: I’m heading to the hangout headquarters for relational and process theology this week, Theology Beer Camp so I’ve been revisiting a tradition I have found compelling for many years and still think raises some of the best questions in contemporary theology. If you want to go deeper, the Homebrewed Christianity podcast is probably the best place to start. I’ve been listening since 2009. The host, Tripp Fuller is a theologian who is fantastic at making Whitehead, Cobb, process theology, and open and relational theology accessible without flattening the ideas. And if people want it, I’ll do the follow-up on why process theology gives such a radically different answer to evil and suffering. #theology #theologytiktok #christiantiktok #faithandculture #christiancontentcreator

if God is acted upon by outside forces, and this changes Him, how is our God different than say, Zeus or Jupiter? the God of The Bible is not this God of process theology, that much i can tell you

This sounds a lot like the Buddhist teaching on dependent origination, a teaching so fundamental it's shared by every school of Buddhist philosophy. Phenomena exist only because of the causes and conditions that give rise to them.

Me, a divinity student: I should really get off of tik tok and do some readings. Tik tok: Here’s a video that finally explains process theology in a way you can understand. 😂

Kinda reminds me how the ancient Levant religions believed that they directly influenced and contributed to cosmic orderliness thru the performance of rituals and the upholding of social justice. I’ll hafta look into this theology( ty for sharing

but "classical" also believes God is LIVING, NOT a statue... this requires change or "growth" 😳

Yes. Do the suffering video. Suffering is my biggest hangup with faith and philosophy these days.

I haven't found any other system that so fully explains the problem of evil in a morally coherent way as process theology.

This is one of many ideas that “bottom-shelf” evangelicals are terrified of and forbid exploration of. My observation has been that many people equate God’s perfection to “cannot change, cannot grow, cannot have new experiences,” and thus they stunt their study of Theology Proper assuming that God cannot participate in any process, as if that means he was previously flawed.

Sounds very much akin to the ideas of inter-being and dependent arising within Buddhism.
