The Mid-Autumn Festival, also called the Moon Festival, is one of China’s most beloved traditional holidays. It’s connected to the legend of Chang’e, the Moon Goddess. Long ago, there were ten suns in the sky, burning the earth. The hero Hou Yi shot down nine of them, leaving only one. As a reward, he received an elixir of immortality. But he didn’t want to leave his wife Chang’e, so he kept it at home. One day, a greedy man tried to steal the elixir. To protect it, Chang’e drank it herself and flew up to the moon, where she became the Goddess of the Moon. Hou Yi missed her deeply, so he offered her favorite foods every year when the moon was full. On the moon, Chang’e was not alone — she was accompanied by the Jade Rabbit, a gentle creature who constantly pounds herbs to make the elixir of life. Today, people celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival by admiring the bright full moon, eating mooncakes, and reuniting with family, expressing love and longing for those far away. #🇨🇳 #中秋节 #MidAutumnFestival #ChineseCulture #Legend
