@bioluminescenttraveler: There are places where walking through the doors feels a little like leaving your own century behind. The Cathedral of Saint Paul is one of them. Stone, marble, bronze, stained glass and the work of generations of artists and craftspeople surround you, but its story begins somewhere much smaller: an 1841 log chapel overlooking the Mississippi in a settlement known as Pig’s Eye. That little chapel was named Saint Paul, and eventually the growing settlement took the same name. From a log chapel to this. Sometimes the best way to understand a city is to walk backward through time. #SaintPaul #MinnesotaHistory #CathedralOfSaintPaul #HistoricArchitecture #wherewonderlives
