@hamzeh.majiet: 🚨 CYRIL'S R6.4 MILLION ANKOLE COW 🇿🇦 President Cyril Ramaphosa’s Ankole cow, Queen Arusha, has sold for a record-breaking R6.4 million at the Ntaba Nyoni & Friends auction at Phala Phala on 3 October. Queen Arusha is an in-calf Ankole heifer and a full sister to Optimus Prime, an Ankole bull with horns measuring around 68 inches (1.73m). Ramaphosa’s Ntaba Nyoni farm was initially focused on breeder cattle, sourcing animals from breeders in the Eastern Cape, Free State and Namibia. Following Ramaphosa’s visit to Uganda in 2004, the operation shifted its focus towards Ankole cattle. The farm subsequently acquired 40 cows and three bulls from Uganda, establishing the foundation of its Ankole cattle stud. Today, those genetics are commanding serious money. At the same auction, two sexed semen straws from Optimus Prime sold for R250,000 each, while 37 semen straws generated R1.235 million in total. A further 19 embryos sold for R1.445 million. The auction itself generated R22.5 million, with 10 bulls selling for a combined R2.75 million and eight other heifers averaging R482,500. Queen Arusha’s R6.4 million sale is therefore much more than the price of one animal.
