I read the “complete & uncut edition” of The Stand, all 1,152 pages in about a week. I was very excited to then watch both television versions, only o couldn’t make it through more than 20 minutes of either before turning them off in disgust. Maybe I need to wait until the book fades in my memory.

that's what makes King's characters good. it's about the conflict and identifying with both the villains and the heroes and questioning their motivations.

I thought MF’s version hit the marks. I couldn’t even get through 2020. I had a lot of critiques of the 94 version, but I thought it came close, but yeah, the book is unworkable outside a long, slow TV show or a three movie arc — Out and toward Colorado—>Arrival/build up/quest start—>quest continues to the end. The end in Vegas needs to not be taken so literally and be more of a final destination type of chain of events.
