@itsumadarling: Make your registration/pin work for you instead of paying to literally be torched every day I like I was and many NHS staff are and it’s just not fair. I realised why they call it ‘breaking’ into tech because my god was I panicking after 4 months of trying and not working but we got there in the end and the 3 things I always tell everyone if you’re a registered professional and not newly qualified these tech companies want you clinical knowledge (not your physical labour like the NHS) Focusing on these: CV - does you CV accurately reflex how you would make an impact? Does you CV show any facts or figures about any improvement you’ve made in your current role? (Tech recruiters love numbers and stats) every single healthcare professional can do this with your normal day to day at your role. LinkedIn - a lot of these roles will pay their own employers to refer people and give them referral incentives so they make their life easier which is why sometimes you’ll apply and not hear back (I was there, it’s brutal) so targeting recruiters on platforms like LinkedIn, or other tech hiring websites sites will help Interviews - as someone who was agency for a long time I couldn’t remember the last time I had to apply for anything usually I would get referrals by word of mouth but having to go back and brush up my interview techniques was also so stressful especially with most tech roles having 3 plus rounds of interviews. Having a structured system when answering questions helps. Having your elevator pitch ready and practicing daily so when that job does come around you are not having to prep for interview and learn about the company as well is helpful. 2 mins while I brush my teeth I go through who I am what I bring the impact I have made with the stats in my current role and what I look to improve or bring to the desired role I am applying for. Now the bonuses … you can negotiate you salary!!!!! Yes! No standard band pay. I was able to negotiate an additional £5k from what they offered me because I’m not leaving a penny on the table and if you don’t ask you don’t get. Being able to argue why they should pay you your worth is vital by showing the impact you have daily helps and keep track of your own progress/performance and make sure you negotiate an increase in salary periodically is also a must but that’s also something you should be highlighting in your salary negotiation #remotenurse #healthtech #nursing #nhs #somalitiktok
