The last time this happened whole cultures were wiped out on the coast. We found out about it from a verbal history of a local tribe who told a story how the sea swallowed the coast and took the trees. When geologists looked into it they discovered scars on the hillsides 75ft up in the stratigraphy. The coast elevation also dropped by as much as 30 feet and it’s why there are “sunken” forests on some parts of the coast. Because of the land slip this tsunami would likely form a super destructive tall tidal wave. Also the coastal tribes who were wiped out knew to go higher ground with an earthquake but they couldn’t get high enough in time.
