@simon_harristd: Investing shouldn’t be just for people with big savings. Yesterday in Budget 2027 I announced the details of our new Irish Investment Account. The goal is to make investing clearer, easier and open to more people. Here’s how it works: ✅ A tax-free threshold of €50,000 ✅ Put in up to €12,000 a year, with no minimum ✅ No capital gains tax, dividend withholding tax or exit tax ✅ No deemed disposal ✅ No need to deal with Revenue. Your provider looks after it ✅ Invest in shares, bonds, ETFs and other funds ✅ Choose from banks, investment firms and insurers, with more competition to help bring fees down The account opens on 1 July 2027 and will be legislated for in the Finance Bill. Changing our investment culture won’t happen overnight. But this is a real step towards helping people put their money to work and build their own financial resilience. #invest #save #finance #ireland #investing

This video just shows how out of touch the government is with the reality in this country. Absolute insanity.

How the fook do u think that ordinary people have saving… my petrol is gone up by about €50 a month… we got zero in budget as u put PRSI up twice…. My employer cant afford over 11.4% for my PRSI & now they have a pension… contribution on top… so minimum wage is now €14.94… + 11.4% employer PRSI…+ 1.5% pension contribution…=€16.85 per hour….& that still €1 behind the living wage which is now €16….what does prsi do for me as i nned pay for health insurance

"€50 one month or €100 the next month" people dont have that much money at the end of the month because it's all gone paying bills or for groceries or petrol or diesel, he hasn't a clue what the real world is like, hes living in his own little fantasy world

So in other words, put your money into an account and if it does well, the government gets a cut. Got it. People shouldn’t be taxed for being good savers or good investors.

My late sister wisely said, if you want to save money, stop spending it.Celine Murphy was right. Before and after her death her too was robbed, her money €249k was taken between banks and lawyers, her apartment was taken by lawyers. Not a single cent of her money remained thereafter her family vilified for asking for transparency. That the Godpel truth.

why limit the annual contribution so low if the idea was to get people to move their savings? UK have twice the limit and no tax or threshold at all.

So when the market crashes and you lose 20% you still have to pay the 1%? Will the providers take all the benefit in fees like they do with pensions😢
