September of last year, at 30 weeks pregnant, we found out that our baby had a 95% chance of having Down syndrome. In that same moment, we found out we were having a baby girl 🥹 For the majority of my remaining pregnancy, the words Down syndrome clouded my mind. But even through the fear and uncertainty, I was still so excited to have a daughter. I wasn’t grieving her. I was grieving a diagnosis that carried so many unknowns and fears in my mind. Then she was born, and I experienced the kind of unconditional love that a diagnosis could never touch. She has already brought so much love, joy, and light into all of our lives. I didn’t know this much love was waiting for us on the other side of my fear. I wish I could go back to my pregnant self, wrap my arms around her, and tell her, “You don’t need to be so scared. You are about to experience the greatest love of your life.” It is an honor to be her mom. And looking back now, I can see that God’s plan was always greater than my own 🤍 What I once feared would change our lives became one of the greatest gifts our lives have ever known. #downsyndrome #downsyndromebaby #t21 #theluckyfew #nothingdownaboutit
