@art_dailydose: Hank Schmidt in der Beek takes his easel to places that look made for landscape painting, then paints the pattern of his own shirt. Checks, stripes, and blocks of color move from his clothes onto the canvas while mountains, coastlines, and forests remain behind him. Photographer Fabian Schubert records the scene, turning the contrast between the grand view and the everyday subject into the work's recurring joke. Their series Und im Sommer tu ich malen began in the Austrian Alps in 2009. It later brought them to locations associated with painters including Monet, Cézanne, and van Gogh. The scenery changes, but the shirt keeps getting the starring role. Art by @hankschmidtinderbeek Photographs by Fabian Schubert #art #painting #photography #artist #contemporaryart
