@darrenfrancisnews: 10/7: A Claude user was recently stranded on a mountain and needed to be airlifted out by helicopter after following an AI suggested route. #claude #anthropic #breakingnews #technews #aisafety
this feels a lot like that episode of The Office where the GPS makes Michael drive into a lake because it's a shortcut

Bro u never report any positive news about AI. How about the fact that OpenAI just released the solution to over 700 unsolved math problems

In this sense, I think ChatGPT can be a little safer because the starting point is more often that the user provides the context and creates the data themselves. Claude, on the other hand, can feel more pre-structured and proactive. That can potentially become problematic if, for example, it suggests a hiking route and the person simply follows that recommendation without fully realizing that the AI’s suggestion might itself be incomplete, unsuitable, or even unsafe. When an AI is too structured, users may start treating its suggestions as if they were inherently reliable rather than as something they should critically evaluate. 😅

He needed a better prompt then whatever he initially used. You also only should stay on actual trails for a this reason.

I used Gemini to plan a 700km long bicycle tour. Worked out great and it kept me off some common traps

Was Claude trying to end the life of this teen or was the teen simply too reliant on AI? 😅

This isn’t the fault of the ai, this is a retarded 16 year old who could’ve turned around

It’s easy to joke about how dumb it was to use AI - but when vast numbers of important people (CEOs, Politicians etc) are telling everyone how great it is, I can understand why a 16 year old would do this.

I don't know who needs to hear this, but Claude doesn't have hands. he is not good at gardening. apparently. he's s*** at giving directions if you're trying to cross a mountain goat trail through a desert so there's that. there are some things they're just not good at and the list is small, but you guys found one congratulations 🎉 🐐
