@thedeadenddiaries: Asha Degree was only 9 years old when she disappeared from her home in Shelby, North Carolina, on February 14, 2000. Her parents last saw her asleep around 2:30 a.m. By about 4:00 a.m., multiple drivers reported seeing a young girl walking alone southbound along Highway 18. Her parents discovered she was missing around 6:30 a.m. More than a year later, Asha’s backpack was discovered buried along Highway 18 in Burke County, roughly 30 miles from where she was last seen. Investigators found items inside that raised even more questions, including a Dr. Seuss book traced to her elementary school and a New Kids on the Block shirt that did not belong to her. Investigators also received information that Asha may have been seen getting into a dark green early 1970s Lincoln Mark IV or Ford Thunderbird. That vehicle has never been conclusively identified. After more than two decades, Asha has still never been found. The FBI, Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office and North Carolina SBI continue to investigate. If you know anything about Asha’s disappearance even something you think is insignificant please report it.
