@disorganized.religion: When you teach people to fight demons, then call certain groups demonic, it logically leads to violence. This ideology had real-world consequences for my colleague, who was physically attacked and yelled at with homophobic slurs by a Christian Nationalist following a public meeting. Another friend was chased down but got away. I’ve been threatened with violence as well (along with eternal hell). We’ve massively increased security at the church in response to threats. Every time, the attackers’ home church said “We didn’t send anyone to do that. We didn’t call for violence.” The truth is they don’t have to. This theology has real-world consequences. #prorgressiveclergy
