Scooter may see the world differently, but that doesn’t mean his future is any less bright. ❤️ At just one year old, Scooter has already endured more pain than most dogs experience in a lifetime. This handsome little Pug arrived at our shelter with significant visual impairment and severely compromised eyes. Initially, we hoped that only one eye would need to be removed. Unfortunately, further examination revealed ulceration and swelling of the globe in his other eye, leaving us with the heartbreaking reality that both eyes needed to go. We understand that Scooter’s appearance may be difficult for some people to see. But here’s what we want you to understand: Scooter isn’t mourning the loss of his sight. He’s finally getting relief from his pain. He had very little vision before surgery, and the discomfort he was living with must have been tremendous. Now, for the first time in who knows how long, Scooter has the opportunity to experience life without that constant suffering. And the best part? Scooter is still Scooter. A young, vibrant, resilient little boy with an entire lifetime of love left to give. We do want to be very clear that Scooter needs an experienced, committed adopter. Pugs are a breed that often requires ongoing veterinary care, even without the significant medical challenges Scooter has already faced. His future family will also need the patience and understanding to help a blind dog navigate his surroundings safely and confidently. Scooter doesn’t need anyone to feel sorry for him. He needs someone who can see beyond what he’s lost and recognize everything he still has to offer. He may have lost his eyes, but he hasn’t lost his chance at a beautiful life. ❤️ Apply to adopt at Montgomeryhumane.com.
