Can’t even be a woman who likes sports or you’re automatically “only interested because of the guys.” Like yes some of the guys are cute but. I. LOVE. THE. SPORT. Its so irritating

As a lesbian I can promise I’m not watching male sports because I think any of them are attractive 😩

When the author said he got defensive over a question about him and will, like hmmm I wonder why? Maybe it’s because you’re talking about them like they’re in a secret relationship

“he has become an unwitting target of intrigue, fascination, and parasocial projection among those series’ many (mostly female) viewers, who are eager to find examples of, or at least hopeful stand-ins for, their fictional fantasies in the real world” is CRAZY

It was so hard to read, like, I feel bad for Mack who had to politely endure that, I would also be so defensive if they start implying that I have a relationship with my best friend. The rpf and the hr thing made me feel mad (btw i have nothing against that) but he is an athleteeeeee and he should be more recognized for that 😭

Like I don’t wake up at 3am most days to watch qualifying and yell at my screen when Ferrari put slicks on during a wet race.

It’s genuinely a joke. Mack is one of the best hockey players and they ask him about “fan fiction” and things that don’t relate to his talent in the slightest. It’s just making the agenda of “female fans only care about the boys being hot” even more popular when it’s not even true. I’m so annoyed.

The fact that a man wrote half of it as though it was a fanfiction, “"We were the worst team in the league," he says with that signature smile.” Like are you serious right now???? He’s a freak for writing it the way he did.

You say you’re into a sport and it’s “name 5 players. Name 10 teams. Who was the player that was born with an extra toe and got it cut off and then got his wife pregnant but they decided to secretly put the baby up for adoption and the baby was also born with an extra toe?”

And like as someone who reads rpf, I can assure you that the people who are only fans because of fanfic don’t bother watching the games. Like you can both participate in rpf and be an actual fan of hockey. If I just wanted to read fics or look at pictures of players I think are hot, I can do that for free quite easily. I wouldn’t be paying a bunch of services to watch a damn game much less paying to go to actual games and buying merch
