I grew up in Sarasota. And it never flooded. The rainwater always had a place to go. But now that we’ve become an urban concrete jungle, there’s no natural drainage.

It’s because we don’t have enough gated communities yet. Once we add a couple thousand more homes everything will be good

You know what’s a good idea? 1200 town homes,2000 unit apartments,storage units,car wash and a new HOA

It shouldn’t baffle you. The population in Sarasota County has quadrupled in the past decade with no improvements to infrastructure. We have been overrun with people moving into this state. It has destroyed our quality of life.

I grew up here. This rarely happened … ever … until over development. It’s so sad.

I know what could help us with the flooding, more storage units, apartments and more communities on the side of 75 🤣

It shouldn’t baffle you, just look at all the construction, apartments, and new housing developments. The rain water has no where to go.

Born and raised here….didnt do this before benderson ruined everything. Palmer ranch was known for cow fields and Lakewood ranch was a tiny little spot.

Overdevelopment without years of infrastructure and a water shortage, but just keep on REZONING land that’s supposed to absorb water runoff and build it higher and put housing on it! Developers don’t care because they don’t have to deal with it and our commissioners are selling us out!

yeah im so sick of our infrastructure. if it rains all day I cant get into my neighborhood til the water subsides. we have to direct people and they still try to go and flood the shit out of themselves or they drive thru and tear up my yard trying to get around it., but were supposed to be hurricane prepared always
