@wired: New solar-powered machines using specialized materials known as metal organic frameworks, or MOFs, are able to harvest water from some of the driest air on Earth. Startup Atoco, founded by a Nobel laureate, says the technology could address two of the biggest problems facing data centers today.
I thought I seen videos long time ago of a black dude from Flint, Michigan who created this

It’s illegal in US. Industrial water will never be drinkable even after maximum filtering. Data centers are legally considered industrial. Gotta change the law, but it’s an extremely long shot as factory waste water is already extremely purified yet illegal.

yeah, all problems solved. bring the datacenters! the noise, heat, and increased electrical bills don't matter at all. MF probably will try to bottle and sell that 😂😂😂

didn't a military guy invent this first and his machine was sabotaged?

odd question if you commercial size these for data centers making them bigger and alot of them will that resulting water pull from the environment effect weather patterns? 🤔 weather works off of moisture and humidity if you pull larger scale won't we see an effect?

That doesn’t tangibly offset the impact of data centers. It’s more like greenwashing

this sounds great, but we wouldn't need more data centers if these companies weren't so insistent on collecting so much of our personal data in the 1st place. from dynamic pricing, to tracking where you go, TVs collecting data whether it's turn on or not, Flock and Axon cameras tracking license plates.and facial recognition, all the way down to be able to track your eye movements and finger pressure when using your phone.
Sure, being able to pull water from the air in drought prone areas is a great idea... but pitching is hand in hand as a means to help benefit these big tech companies is just a means to mask the moster behind the curtain, because if these data centers adopt something like this, that just brings them one step closer to garnering additional public support from people who's biggest complaint is the effects it has on the environment, but don't understand the scope of how those data centers are facilitating the erosion of their privacy

That’s good. Why can’t they just reuse/recycle that water back into the data centers instead of trying to introduce it back to civilian drinking water
