Hell no. If I bought a house for exactly what I owe on my current house I would pay between 700-900 a month in just interest. I don’t even want to down grade at this point. And I don’t even owe that much

It will not make houses cheaper. The banks can just sit on them for one simple reason they can not rebuild the house for cheaper it’s an investment and they can control the release

At 7% interest rates yes house pricing is going to have to come down about 20% in the next year. Just to get new homes sold they’re offering 3.9% for two years. Then it will jump up to what the market rate.

The issue right now is selling a home. Demand has cratered. Pair this with high number of sellers, high home prices and high interest rates and you get a recipe for a housing market correction. Prices have to come down in this environment if you want to sell your home right now. New builds are selling for cheaper prices than 30 year old resells. Supply and demand drives the reality, and this chart says prices go down.
