@cassiemomcoach: Sometimes you don’t need a consequence, but when you do, it has to be the right one that actually helps your little kid learn and move towards a positive behavior. I’m covering all of this, and helping you build your own unique consequences plan, for your family, inside of the challenge that starts on Monday. More info in my profile !!
Amazing, so helpful! My 13 month old had her first tantrum today 🥹🙈
Can you make a video talking about how you decide whether something needs a consequence?

3yo, if something goes wrong (big or small like blocks falling, drops her water bottle etc) she will immediately just have a go at the nearest parent, tell them to shut up, don't look at her, go away. We have been modelling for months and months with co-regulating and coping strategies for big emotions and modelling asking for help, positive trying again but she is now starting to push back and it's getting worse.

For the screaming in public, I removed my little one from the situation, but now she’s just doing it anytime she doesn’t want to be somewhere. 😅 She sees getting to leave with me as a positive. We were in Europe and had no choice but to eat out. She didn’t want to, and so she threw a fit, so I would take her away.

when i try to enforce no next thing until we pick up/clean up it turns into a full blown war. There's pretty much always something nearby for him to grab and try to play. So to enforce that and keep him from doing something else I literally have to hold him in place while he screams, hits, and bites. Obviously that's not ideal or feasible for the long run. it's virtually impossible to not also escalate myself in that situation.

Question: not picking up, but we have to leave for school, and we can't leave it out because it will be in the way of others who are at home. But we have to go to school and I have to go to work. I can't just wait for them to pick up the toys when they feel like it.

One of my proudest teachings for my 18 month old is how good she is at calming down. If shes about to start screaming/crying hysterically I remind her to take a deep breath a couple times and she does, calms down and can communicate clearly (for her age). It helps so much

I have a 2 and 4 yo and we are struggling with toy sharing/taking turns. Mostly one kid is playing with something, the other wants it, and I don’t think it’s appropriate to make the first kid share just because someone else wants a turn. Even forcing “turns” is tough for me. It just feels like constant interruption for the first kid, who is having a great time to begin with. If the kid doesn’t give the toy up, the kid who wants a turn, just cries until I force a turn or take the toy away. Taking the toy doesn’t seem fair to the first kid either! Does this even make sense? Help! I’m overthinking it I fear :)

I like to say to the toddlers and preschoolers I work with that screaming is for emergencies. I explain that sometimes it can be a scary loud noise for other people and those people can think something is wrong.
