🤍 I sit here thinking about us, and there’s one thing I want to say more than anything else in this world: please, teach me how to love you. It might sound strange. I love you — deeply, truly, with every beat of my heart. But loving you and loving you the right way are two different things. I know I don’t always get it right. I know sometimes I speak when I should listen. Sometimes I rush when I should be still. Sometimes I try to fix things when all you really need is someone to simply sit beside you and say, “I’m here.” I don’t want to guess anymore — I want to know. I want to learn you, inside and out. I want to know what love feels like from your side. Teach me what makes you feel safe. Because that’s all I ever really want to be — your safe place. The one person you can let your guard down around, the one person before whom you never have to be strong. Tell me: is it when I hold you close? When I give you quiet space? When I just listen without interrupting? Show me, so I can be that home for you, every single day. Teach me how you like to be cared for. Some people need words. Some people need time. Some people need a gentle touch, and others need a little space until they’re ready to come close again. I don’t want to assume I know what’s best for you — because you are the only one who knows what your heart truly craves. Tell me: when life feels heavy, do you want me to cheer you up? Or do you just want me to sit with you in the quiet until it feels lighter? Do you need reassurance often, or do you prefer to feel it in the way I show up for you? Teach me your language, because I want to speak it fluently. Teach me your quiet places. The parts of you that you don’t show to the world. The fears you don’t always say out loud. The dreams you keep tucked away. The old hurts that still make you wince a little when they’re touched. Help me understand them — not so I can judge them, but so I can learn how to hold them gently. Tell me what feels too much, and what feels not enough. Show me where the edges are, so I never step on what is tender within you. I want to know the whole picture — not just the bright, smiling parts — because I love all of you. Teach me how to love you when things get hard. Because we won’t always be perfect. We’ll disagree. We’ll misunderstand. We’ll have days when we feel a little distant from each other. On those days — teach me how to come back to you. Teach me how to apologise well. Teach me how to listen even when my own heart is hurting. Teach me how to soften instead of standing tall, how to reach out instead of building a wall. Remind me that loving you isn’t about never making mistakes — it’s about always being willing to learn how to make things right again. And most of all — teach me to be patient with myself as I learn. Because I am still growing. I am still learning the map of your beautiful heart. Some days I will get it wrong — and I hope you will gently show me the way back. Because the goal isn’t to be perfect at loving you — it’s to be better, every single day, for you and with you. You are the most precious thing in my life. And the greatest honour I will ever have is getting to love you — exactly the way you need to be loved. So take my hand. Guide my heart. Speak your truth. I am your willing student, and you are my greatest love.
