@globeandmail: Prime Minister Mark Carney discussed the steps his government is taking to address a rising number of antisemitic acts in Canada on the third anniversary of Hamas's Oct. 7 attack on Israel. Carney's government first introduced Bill C-9 – the Combatting Hate Act – in September, 2025. The bill makes it a crime punishable by up to 10 years in prison to obstruct someone from accessing a place of worship or other sites where Jews, Muslims and other identifiable groups gather. The bill also criminalizes the willful promotion of hatred toward religious and ethnic groups by publicly displaying terror or hate symbols. It came into force in July. #carney #canada #cdnpoli
