@mamaot_shannon: Choking guidelines matter AND kids need opportunities to learn how to safely manage more challenging foods. Whole grapes and cherry tomatoes are considered choking hazards for young children, which is why the standard recommendation is to modify them. Because my own kids WILL NOT eat a tomato or a grape once it’s been cut, I choose to practice foods like this while they are: 🍅 Seated appropriately 🍅 Calm and focused on eating 🍅 Closely supervised 🍅 Already demonstrating the oral motor skills needed to manage them This is NOT me saying every toddler is ready for whole grapes or tomatoes. Readiness and oral motor skills matter, and food modification is still an important part of reducing choking risk. Are there any foods your kids won’t eat if you cut them? #feedingtoddlers #toddlerfeeding #pickyeaters #toddlermom #toddlermeals
I need advice on how to help my 18 month old with his spoon. He hardly uses his spoon I’ve tried giving him two one for both hands but he juts throws one and then uses hands.

Nicole :
That’s how my almost 2 year old is with blueberries. Loves them if they aren’t smushed. So only gets them when he is in his high chair and closely watched! 😊
