When we arrived on scene, the pod and Jack had just finished a hunt and were engaging in prey sharing and some social activities, which gave Captain Lewman and Naturalist Brooke the idea to drop a hydrophone. We’re so glad they did! We were on-scene for about thirty minutes, and they remained chatty for the duration of our stay. While we didn’t see the prey that they were sharing, it has been theorized that the pod took down a minke whale, highlighting their prowess as apex predators in the Salish Sea. #pugetsoundexpress #whalewatching #orca #pnwlife #olympicpeninsula
