@dershpiel: Jewish developer Rob Speyer’s firm, Tishman Speyer, is taking over New York’s Chrysler Building after finalizing a 150-year lease, with a $235 million investment plan backed by its partners. The 77-story Manhattan landmark will get major upgrades, including restored exterior details, modernized building systems and offices prepared for companies to move into. Plans also include a lounge on the 61st floor with outdoor access and skyline views. Speyer’s firm already owns Rockefeller Center, and now it is bringing another world-famous New York building into its portfolio. Cooper Union will keep the land beneath the tower and receive rent under the agreement, helping support the college’s plan to bring back free tuition for all undergraduates.
