I suspected it, I discerned it, and now, hearing this for myself, I understand even more clearly why I was concerned. You can hear it for yourself. “Drop your Jesus and your God one side and begin to worship idols.” Church, we must understand something: persecution is rarely without an objective. The enemy does not attack the Church merely for the sake of attacking. There is always an attempt to silence conviction, weaken faith, compromise truth and ultimately remove the influence of Christ. But here is where the Church must be careful: When the world pressures you to abandon the very convictions it is persecuting you for, do not surrender those convictions just to gain acceptance. If they mock your holiness, remain holy. If they reject your faith, hold firmly to Christ. If they pressure you to compromise, stand your ground. Jesus already warned us that the world would hate His followers because they do not belong to the world. John 15:18–19. Pastors, leaders, believers—this is not the hour to negotiate our convictions for applause. The Church must maintain her posture in persecution. What they are trying to make you abandon may be exactly what you must guard the most. Stand firm. Hold the faith. Keep Christ at the centre. The Church must not become less Christian because the world has become more hostile to Christianity.
