What kind of new back pack would she like I will have it shipped to her. I was this parent too, but I always told my kids that we may be poor in money but we was rich with all the live we shared.

And you know what happened to my boys I had those same conversations with? They grew up understanding that money has more value than fun things. They grew up to both be extremely fiscally responsible. They understand a budget and saving and really needing something vs just wanting it because everyone else has it. There’s no shame in having those honest conversations and there certainly is no shame in ANY man secure enough in himself to share his emotions. Well done doc, very well done.

No, she doesn’t need to know every problem that you have. But if she asks, you answer her truthfully. Like you said, your daughter is smart, they can always tell when we’re not telling the truth. No shame in working hard to make ends meet.🥰

Ppl need to mind their business, it’s ok for your daughter to understand things are not always the best , and ppl don’t realize your a vet , and vets don’t het taken care of like they should ….It perfectly FINE for men to cry and have emotions … Does your daughter still need a new back pack ? What clothes does she want ? I’m in Canada but I will help with whatever I can ,, it’s ok for ppl to help …. We all need a village

My thing is WHY hide it??? We are supposed to teach our kids about life!!! I shared with my son. It’s prepared him for the hard times as an adult. Quit hiding shit from your children! Life is HARD it’s not roses and sunshine all the time! I feel it’s very healthy to let them see it. It builds strength, trust, and truth.

Growing up as a farm kid, we didn’t have a lot of money either my dad worked construction. So he was laid off in the winter times, living here in Ohio. There were many of times we didn’t have money for different things, but we made do. I remember having a classmate ask me if I was a farm kid . and I said yes I am 100% ! I wanted to tell that girl you’ll never experience the joy that I have by riding dirt bikes on a farm , and being around all kinds of farming, animals !! yes a lot of work even as a child we had our chores … but Money doesn’t make you happy, memories do! And we sure had a lot of fun on the farm! And now I live on that farm, and I still don’t have a lot of money, but I have just enough to get by, that’s all we need. And God will always make sure we have just enough.😇🥰 I think you’re doing just fine by raising your daughter!

I rarely had the extra money for my children , our vacations were in the woods, but.But BUT.. I spent time with my children. We fished, went for walks, I spent time with my kids and I think they were richer than a lot of their friends because of it. You are going through a rough time. It happens to millions of people. A unexpected crisis. It happens.

Doc do not for one minute feel bad about this. I grew up in the 60s and 70s. There were six kids. Dad in the military. Stay at home Mom. We were dysfunctional but a very loving home in spite of the marital issues. I had 4 older sisters and I wore hand me downs. My Mother could stretch a dime like you wouldnt believe. We ate sparingly at times because back then the military was paid once a month. We never went hungry. We always had a roof over our heads. We were loved and my Mom had one hell of an imagination. We couldn't afford paper dolls. So my Mom sat and taught us how to cut out people, clothes, and furniture from a Sears and Aldans catalog. She got shoe boxes for us to set up doll houses. We may not have had money but we had what was important. My parents never hid the finances from us. By doing so it taught me how to stretch a buck. How to prioritize what bills to pay. How to have respect for money and to appreciate all we had. So never feel shame. Your daughter will grow up and have the utmost respect for you as father. Its not the material things that make a child happy and what shapes them into good human beings. You are raising a beautiful girl that appreciates the true things in life that matters. Yes its tough but life is hard. You are teaching her the right things. Big hug

Ppl need to stay in their own lane each person raises their kids different it was always me and my child yes I allowed my child kinda in my money issues but she’s now a grown adult and she’s very money conscious now
