Yes that’s exactly what I did cause I didn’t think I would get in for engineering

The admissions people just came to my school, applying to engineering out of highschool is your best bet because they hardly accept people into the program after highschool, even if you think there’s no chance tech has a very weird way of choosing to accept people so you always have a shot.

I’m a freshman general engineering major and I think a big factor is also whether or not you’re in state. I’m from nova which is super competitive for tech so I’m ngl if ur also from there the 3.7 weighted isn’t great. If you’re from a more rural area in state than it is significantly easier to get in

Matt :
Apply directly, you’ll be taking classes that don’t relate to your major unless you have a ton of ap credits.

I got in with 4.7 weighted (my school didn’t do unweighted), but I had jack shit for engineering related extracurriculars, just the standard couple clubs/honor societies. And a sport. I would definitely apply early action!

If you are taking though Calc 2 in high school you’ll be ok - apply directly to engineering

Dont. It is a rwstricted college (like the college of Business, which Im part of) and internal transfer (at least for the COB) is like 15% acceptance. Your best shot is to go to CC if you dont apply directly and transfer after you get your associates

If possible do anything you can to not switch majors you’ll be so behind in classes

I got into Comp sci with a 3.65 (didn’t do weighting at my school), if you have good test scores and extracurriculars, it’s worth a shot

Apply straight, certain schools within the university are restricted from transferring into and u basically have to “apply” to transfer into them. The engineering school is one of them

I graduated high school with a 4.2 weighed gpa and initially applied for biological sciences and later switched to biomedical engineering. I’ve had to take summer classes every year just to stay on track and I will still be graduating a semester late! I wasn’t able to switch majors until mid sophomore year due to restricted classes
