My mother actually said my brother abandoned her just for getting married and that his wife stole him. Literally just because they were getting married. I have no contact with her. Anytime someone did something she didn’t like it was the end of the world.

Mine absolutely did, unfortunately I was too strong willed so she transferred her attention to my brother, he became the golden child. However he had problems with adulthood and had a nervous breakdown. Thankfully he’s ok now.

I’ve been trying & trying & trying for 30 years because she had a tough childhood, she didn’t have a mother herself her mother passed when she was 5. It’s so tough to step away from because of guilt, but ultimately it’s true that if I want a healthy life for myself, I have to be completely away
