Interesting part about the Genessee, it starts in a farmer's field in Gold, Pa. In the same field, the Allegheny River and the Susquehanna Rivers also start, all going in different directions. The only triple continental divide east of the Mississippi.

As someone who lives within 5 minutes of the Genesee River, this was great. The Genesee River used to flood Rochester prior to the Mt Morris Dam being built. It’s quite a sight when the flow is held back to prevent flooding downstream, and how much of the gorge fills up.

I grew up in Wellsville NY where the Genesee flows through, it had flooded significantly in 1972 and taken out the hospital ppl used cars to try and redirect it they eventually rerouted the river using slabs of concrete it’s a pretty cool piece of history for the town

when the eastern branch was blocked by a moraine near Dansville, was that the beginning of the Canisteo river? it flows from Dansville on towards Corning.
