They want to know why they were initially told this was a hit-and-run. They want to know why they had to hear from witnesses before they learned that a deputy was involved. And they want the entire truth about what happened that morning. The family isn't asking for Persephone's story to disappear. They're asking for it to be heard. They want an independent investigation. They want answers. And they want accountability if anyone is found to have done something wrong. Because Persephone was more than a headline. Why was she laying in the roadway? What happened to her prior to this? I’ve read where the deputy followed policy and procedure, called for ems/supervisor/etc and stayed and gave a full report of what happened but apparently it’s upper supervision telling the family something else. This young lady deserves justice but I doubt it was intentional on the deputy’s part
