You won't believe how easy it is to GROW rock candy! ✨Recipe: Ingredients: • 5 cups water • 10 cups granulated sugar, plus more for coating the skewers • Food coloring • Flavoring of choice (optional) • Wooden skewers • Clothespins Directions: 1. Dip each wooden skewer in water, then roll it in granulated sugar until evenly coated. Set aside and let dry completely for about 1 hour. This sugary surface will give the crystals a place to begin growing. 2. In a large pot, bring the water to a boil. Add the sugar 1 cup at a time, stirring continuously and allowing each addition to completely dissolve before adding the next. 3. Once all the sugar has been added and dissolved, reduce the heat and simmer for 3–5 minutes, stirring as needed, until the syrup is clear and the remaining sugar crystals have dissolved. Remove from the heat and let cool for about 15 minutes. 4. Divide the sugar syrup evenly among 3 large heat-safe jars. Add your desired food coloring and flavoring to each jar and gently stir to combine. 5. Clip a prepared skewer with a clothespin and suspend it in the center of each jar. The skewer should be submerged in the syrup without touching the bottom or sides of the jar. 6. Leave the jars undisturbed at room temperature for 5–7 days, allowing the sugar crystals to gradually grow around the skewers. 7. Once the crystals have reached your desired size, carefully remove the skewers and place them on a paper towel or parchment paper to dry completely. Discard or reuse the remaining sugar syrup. 8. Serve and enjoy this colorful, nostalgic crystal rock candy!
