🔥 “The greatest temptation is man’s applause.” – Brother Yun Brother Yun, born Liu Zhenying in Henan, China, in 1958, is a Chinese house-church evangelist whose life has been marked by persecution, imprisonment and a relentless burden to preach Christ. Raised during the Cultural Revolution, he came to faith as a teenager after his family prayed for his gravely ill father. With Bibles scarce, Yun prayed desperately for one and soon began memorising Scripture and preaching from village to village. His evangelism brought repeated arrests. He spent years in prisons and labour camps, where he says he was beaten, tortured and pressured to betray other believers. His story became widely known through The Heavenly Man, published in English in 2002 and translated into dozens of languages. In a 2005 interview, asked what temptation troubled him most after becoming internationally known, Yun answered, “The greatest temptation is man’s applause.” Before preaching, he said, he deliberately directed applause toward God because without grace he could do nothing. “How can ye believe, which receive honour one of another, and seek not the honour that cometh from God only?” John 5:44. Yun later became one of the best-known voices connected with the Back to Jerusalem vision, calling Chinese believers to carry the Gospel westward through Buddhist, Hindu and Muslim nations toward Jerusalem. He now lives in Germany and continues preaching internationally. His testimony has not been without dispute. In 2004 several Chinese house-church leaders publicly questioned parts of his story and ministry. Paul Hattaway, who wrote The Heavenly Man after interviewing Yun and other witnesses, publicly defended the account. That disagreement remains part of the record. Yun remains active in 2026 and is scheduled to speak at Back to Jerusalem’s Voices of the Persecuted Church conference in Oxford this September. The world loves to crown the servant and forget the Master. Applause is sweet poison when a man begins to drink what belongs to God. Better to be forgotten with Christ than celebrated without Him. 🔥 — #BrotherYun #Quoted #SpiritBroods #PersecutedChurch #GreatCommission
