I had Union Representation, UNW, based out of Yellowknife, July 15th 2025 myself and 700 people were laid off from Ekati, the Union didn't reach out, after 2 weeks of hounding them I reached Shane Pyke by lying about who I was, he was told July 9 about the lay offs but didn't want to cause any problems on site so he didn't sat anything. That's what $160/month worth of Union dues got me and everyone else, oh, I got a cheap coffee mug for xmas 2025. Unions are just scams now

HVAC union tried to get me to jump over 4 months ago. But they couldn't even come close to matching what I make and I'd lose my company truck/ gas card. been in the trade for 22 years.

I retired at 60 thanks to my Union, I put money in a 457Plan B for 25 yrs, at 61 I cashed out my pension, got all my 3% contributions to my pension returned to me, another huge check, started collecting my monthly pension payments at 61, it was only $68 less than if I waited till I was 62, at 62 I got my Social Security.. now I make almost the same as I was making in a 40 hour work week.
