@axconworld: 🚨 Iranian lawmakers have formally registered an impeachment motion against Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, escalating an internal political dispute over Tehran’s contacts with the United States. The motion was led by hardline MP Amirhossein Sabeti, who accused Araghchi of engaging with U.S. officials—including envoy Steve Witkoff—during the UN General Assembly in New York without the required authorization. The allegations include crossing Iran’s “red lines,” political miscalculations and mishandling negotiations with Washington. But there is a major dispute inside Iran over whether the talks were actually unauthorized. Supreme National Security Council secretary Mohsen Rezaei said Araghchi had been tasked with conveying Iran’s conditions to intermediaries, suggesting the diplomatic contacts had higher-level coordination. Importantly, the impeachment request has been registered but has not yet been referred to parliament’s presiding board or placed on the parliamentary agenda. So, this does not mean Araghchi has been impeached or removed from office. The dispute highlights growing divisions within Iran’s political establishment over how far Tehran should engage with Washington during the ongoing conflict and negotiations. This could become a significant test of Iran’s internal political unity—and its diplomatic strategy toward the United States. #Iran #IranIsraelWar #Geopolitics #AbbasAraghchi #USIran
