It is the craziest thing I've ever witnessed and the worst part is I've noticed MYSELF making the same errors 🤣 - **Nationally:** In an insurance-industry study of the cities with the worst drivers, **Hampton ranked #3 in the nation**, with 32.61% of drivers having a prior incident on record. - **Within Virginia:** Hampton Roads leads the state. Per Virginia DMV 2024 crash data, Virginia Beach, Norfolk, Hampton, and Newport News all rank in the top 10 statewide for total crashes, with Virginia Beach the highest at over 5,200 crashes and 24 fatalities. The region's crash rate runs about 4% higher than Roanoke and Richmond, and 10% higher than Northern Virginia. The big three contributing factors cited locally: seat belts, alcohol, and speed.
